USB device not recognised
Can anyone help.
I have a problem with my HP printer not being recognised if I turn it on before windows XP has fully loaded this I have learned to live with. Now I have an even bigger problem. I have just changed to broadband and my modem is not being recognised if it is either left plugged in at shut down or still plugged in on startup. I have been using the modem on a laptop using XP and have had no problems although I admit I do not plug into USB port until after startup but I have just installed it onto my old desktop which has a 1.1 usb port in it and it has taken me 45 minutes to get it to be recognised. Is there something I missing or is it as I think . MY USB PORT IS USELESS!!! Silly question can u upgrade these ports. Grateful for any info or tips. |

You can install a USB adapter in the PC if you want. www.google.com for
possibilities, or visit your local PC supply store. jo wrote: Can anyone help. Hi, Jo.
Your built-in 1.1 USB port probably cannot be upgraded to 2.0; this usually requires new hardware. But USB 2.0 PCI cards are quite inexpensive these days. You should be able to get one with several ports and plug it into your desktop. RC -- R. C. White, CPA San Marcos, TX Microsoft Windows MVP "jo" wrote in message ... Can anyone help. I agree. You can buy these cards at Wal-mart, Radio Shack, Circuit City,
Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot, etc. IF there is a pci port available {take out the old telephone dial up modem), put in an Ethernet pci card also since your broadband connection will function better 5hru this median.
