Default MPEG file too big

Hi,

I'd like to do a very simple thing : select some part of an mpeg file,
and then save only this part to another mpeg file.
It seems that movie maker will allow me to do that - can you confirm that ?

My problem : the source file is too big for movie maker (error message).
Do you know a simple tool to cut such files into several parts ?

(I've found tools on the net, but horribly difficult to learn, just because
awfully documented).

Thanks for any idea.

(BTW I've got my files from Smartripper, which does very simply the
job but unfortunately doesn't allow to specify a maximum size for the
files; I've changed vob extension to mpeg, and I know it is good, since
I can read it under that horrible virtualdub and I can play it).

You know, I don't wish to learn for hours just to save a small part of a
file
every 3 months (and whatever I will have learnt will be forgotten the next
time, that's why ergonomy is so essential to me in that particular case)

No, I don't think Movie Maker is your tool... it usually doesn't work with
MPEG2 files....

Perhaps VirtualDub MPEG... there's a link to it on my website's Setup Movie
Maker Other Software page. Newsletter #16 might help you get started with
it as the various VirtualDub apps work the same.
