Default "Icons" in the favorite column

When I add a website to my "Favorites", usually there is a signature
icon of the webite in the column itself and not just the blue "E".
Some websites have it some don't. Howver, every now and then, those
websites with the icons do not appear, instead the "E" appears. What
happened to those icons? anyone knows?

Favicons are only temporary until cleared from your cache.
To make them permanent:

or
