Default Internet Connectivity Issue

What is the idea behind this? I would just as soon not have DHCP enabled, as
it is one more thing for someone else to figure out if they manage to connect
to my network. I do have some level of experience in networking and computer
management/maintenance, I am not a typical end-user.

I do not see what having the router assign me an address will gain us in
this situation, however if I am missing something, please fill me in.

Try to renable the DHCP and let the machines get the Auto IP address from
the Router.
To do that try to type the Router IP address in the address bar: 192.168.1.1
Make sure the DHCP enabled then go tom the Machines Adapters/NIC properties
and make them assigned an Auto IP and DNS addresses.

Let us know your progress.

that would be the issue. I checked the Winsock catalog, it all seems to be in
order.

My network setup is My computerLinksysWRG54TS Router/Cable modem. No
external switches or hubs involved. On the network is also another computer,
run the same way. Wireless is built into the router, so no access point is
present.

This just began happening, nothing had changed. As stated, it began a long
time ago, but has been gradually getting worse.

By going to the Router Browser page and enable the DHCP.

Try this first:
Open Run then Type these commands and Reboot your machine.

netsh winsock reset catalog

netsh int ip reset reset.log

Do you have 2Wire by any chance?

And tell us about your network setup and did this happened after an update
or new software being installed.
Did you tried Restore Point from system Restore?

It is not a browser third party app problem, because it does the same thing
with outlook, Chrome, and any other internet-accessing application. I posted
what happens when I try to manipulate the network card in command when it is
in the mentioned mode, please look at the pictures. I have Ad-Aware, Spybot
S&D, and Symantec Client Firewall and Antivirus. All come up clean. It is not
a router issue, because as mentioned no other computers on the network are
effected. I have tried using a different port on the switch.

Your problem in your DNS. If you tried to assign An Auto IPs then after
making sure all working, you can try to assign Static IPs again!

I can't see a problem in a ssigning an Auto IP nor Static but for
troubleshooting scenario we want to make sure the DNS is working and did you
assign the DNS or been given Auto by the Router?
