Default Hotmaill accounts in pull-down login window.

Ok, after posting I read John Kay's comments to Doober
about turning off the Passport login from the Control
Panel.

HOWEVER, when I try to do that I get the following message:

'_oPassportMgr" is null or not an object.

I definately messed up my registry (serves me right), so
don't know if I am up a creek or not.

Thanks again,

Claude

I tried using MSN Messenger on two of my hotmail

accounts.
I didn't care for it, so I deleted it. Now whenever I log
into any password enabled website, those hotmail accounts
show up in the pulldown menu. Every TRACE of messenger is
out of my hard drive and registry and I still cannot get
rid of it.

I am using XP Pro with 4 users, but it only happens in my
account (Which is the admin).

Any help would be a godsend, trying to talk to Dell is
like banging one's head against a brick wall.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Claude

Greetings Claude,

Very odd -- never seen this error before. Try this instead, click Start, then Run, then type
the following into the Open field:
control userpasswords2
and click OK.

Then click the Advanced Tab, click Manage Passwords, and you can remove them there (assuming
you don't get the error using this method).

Jonathan,

Thank you for the timely reponse!

I followed your instructions and didn't get an error
message. However, that box in mangage passwords was blank;
no trace of the hotmail accounts.

Might there be another way?

Claude

Hi Claude,

Yeah, I was afraid you might get that result. I'll need to do some more investigation on
this, and unfortunately it's a holiday weekend here, so I don't have access to my normal
resources to try and duplicate this.

For now, click Start, then Run, type:
sfc /scannow
and click OK.
This will do a scan for all the system files and replace any "bad" ones, hopefully it may
solve the problem. You may need to reboot after doing this.

Also, which language version of Windows XP are you using (ex. English, Dutch, etc. ?) and is
it XP Home or XP Pro?
