"New and Improved" - ain't
Arrgh
After many years, I have gotten the taskbar to be the way I not only like, but expect: two columns of icons on the left side of the screen, the more "popular" ones in the right column, compatible one the left. E.G., Top left column is Mailwasher, top right is the mail program. Left column Word processor, right column Wordpad, So this morning - nothing. All blank, nothing there. "Fortunately, I keep them numbered for just such an eventuality." Or in this case, a screen capture of the proper layout. Only - no can do the two columns. My question is: any guesses as to what got "fixed", "improved" or enhanced, and how do I "unfix" it? Windows 7 Pro is the software, if that's any help. -- pyotr filipivich The question was asked: "Is Hindsight overrated?" In retrospect, it appears to be. |

Found out the problem - Microsoft in its insanity feels that I've no need for Quicklaunch anymore. They should have interior decorators come in weekly and redecorate their offices. Open the curtains, change the curtains, replace the lighting with disco-strobes (and hide the off switch). Change the default font to 24 Bodoni Ultra and the color to light grey. Then change all the paper to florescent pink, green or purple. -- pyotr filipivich This Week's Panel: Us & Them - Eliminating Them. I found that, eventually, at http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-7/add-the-quick-launch-bar-to-the-taskbar-in-windows-7/ and they wrote go to: %appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch ...and 'take it from there'. I wound up renaming all the shortcuts, prepending numbers to they would be sorted in the "correct" order -- pyotr filipivich This Week's Panel: Us & Them - Eliminating Them.
