Default Disappearing pointer!!!

Is this problem new??? When my computer is idle for an
hour or longer the pointer disappears and never returns.
When I move the mouse you can see that the invisible
pointer is highlighting icons and links when you do a
mouse over of those areas. I then have trouble spending
a lot of time trying to shut down the computer trying to
find where the buttons are to click on. How can this be
fixed? Do I need to reinstall something? Your help
would be much appreciated. Also, where can I go for help
other than this place the next time? Thanks for anyone's
help on this troubling matter.

Open the Mouse Control Panel. The content varies depending if extra
software is installed e.g Intellimouse. Under Pointer Options there
may be an option to Hide Pointer while typing. Turn this off.
Also changing the pointer shceme back to the default may help.
