Default concerned about installing Office over XP Home

I have a XP Home system which came with additionl software
including Outlook and Word.
For a class I have to get Excel and Access. So, I purchased
"Microsoft Office XP Professional Version 2002". I have
been told I can just install this on top of what I have now
and I should lose no documents or have any version problems
with the documents. I am concerned about doing it and I
would like to know if it is in fact this safe. Is it this safe?

This is absolutely safe it will install Excel and Access (and anything else
you ask it to) and keep Word and Outlook. All of your files will be safe and
should function as they did before the upgrade.
