Try http://www.canon.co.uk/support/consu...ducts/scanners I won't give the rest of the url as, rather alarmingly/depressingly, the site told me which scanner I have. I wouldn't be too alarmed/depressed, _if_ you had it connected at the time; it's not that they have records of you having purchased the scanner, only that they had some clever script which interrogated the scanner. (Unless it's that script possibility that's alarming/depressing you.) Many USB devices self-identify (in fact I think it's in theory a requirement of the USB spec., though a few cheaper devices implement it rather flakily). If you don't clear Cookies on the browser, they will remember. It's like when I search for "socks" on Amazon, then when I visit CNN I keep seeing adverts for socks on the screen. That kind of remembering. Cookies at work. Paul Do a browser session where you only visit and navigate through Web sites whose cookies you really want. Finally, find your cookies file and mark it read-only. -- David E. Ross The Crimea is Putin's Sudetenland. The Ukraine will be Putin's Czechoslovakia. I also clear out any stuff stored by Adobe Flash (on the browser that has Flash). Paul |
