Default Made it through the Windows 10 v1803 Update

Wow, right? It sure took a long time...

Now I can't find my homegroups anywhere on any of my Win10 machines.

I know! Who needs them? I wonder why they ever put them in there in the first
place. It's like stupid, right?

My Win10 Pro machine still does not "see" the other machines in Network but I
figured out how to access them from the address bar using this trick:

\\192.***.*.001\f

or whatever the LAN address and drive is I want to get stuff from. It won't
let me put stuff on them but I can get stuff from them. Strange, right?

Can't figure out why Win10 Pro won't put network icons up when the Win10 Home
machines do it automatically. Just being a bitch, I guess. You know how you
have to give a girl candy, foot massages or liquor to get the program moving
along? Can't use date rape drugs anymore - damn you, Bill Cosby. But that's
how this Win10 Pro machine is acting. Probably going to try to sue me in
about 30 years when machines take over... Nothing ventured but you can't make
them drink.

Oh well, maybe next update.

Don't really know what you're talking about, but it sure is!

Well, they did warn us a few times they were "deprecating"
the HomeGroup feature.

What was supposed to happen, is File Sharing should work
better with it removed. Unless, of course, they left some
of the services behind and didn't clean up properly. There
might have been as many as seven services associated with that.

I haven't tested sharing yet on my 1803, and being a lazy guy,
it's going to take a while to do a full matrix test.

I can access my win10 shares from my win7 system.
I cannot access my win7 shares from my win10 system.
This is new with the 1803 update. Have not tried to diagnose it.
I have never used homegroups.
I have had similar issues a year ago with comodo. At that time,
uninstalling/reinstalling comodo fixed it.
Update to 1709 didn't require reinstalling comodo.
Have not had time to see if reinstalling comodo would fix 1803.

Did you try using "the trick"? Right-click in Network address bar and click
"Edit address", then enter your LAN destination's path and drive - in this
format:

\\192.***.*.001\f

You can drag an icon to Quick Access from that result, but on mine,
accessing the remote share using the dragged icon is dreadfully slower than
entering the address. I wish I could figure out why Win10 Pro Network
cannot instantly "see" the Win10 Home stations, but that has totally eluded
me. Google searches are productive, even though many people ask the same
question, the answers don't work in my case.

Change FDResPub(aka Function Discovery Resource Publication) 'Service' on
Win 10 1803 to Automatic or Automatic(Delayed Start)

Start the 'service' if not running on Windows 10.

Restart the device.

While HomeGroup has been deprecated in 1803, under-the-hood hooks still
exist regardless of whether or not HomeGroup was previously or not
previously used for networking/sharing. Prior to 1803 HomeGroup was
dependent on FDResPub.

For the most part, many(not all) 1803 o/s devices don't have this sharing
issue if they started out as 1709. On the other hand if a device started
out with an earlier build (1703, 1607, etc.) and was later updated to 1709
and/or 1803 the issue may be more prominent.

One other thing I noticed, is I had to go back to
Programs and Features : Windows Features and
tick the two SMBV1 boxes to put back support for
WinXP shares. The Upgrade didn't preserve my previous settings.
