Default spellcheck and page numbering?

Hi,
I've been struggling with xp on my new ibm thinkpad r32,
trying to figure out how to engage the spell check. Also,
how do I number my page documents. I was working with
windows 98 before and both options were available on my
tool bar. But don't see any way to access either spell
check or page numbering through wordpad. Please help.
thanks, tammy

Help in wordpad has nothing to say about spell check or page numbering.
Assuming these features do not exist it would appear that MS wants you to
buy Word. There is at least one cheaper alternative: Star Office from Sun
which retails for about $75. If you are a student, it's free.
