Default Can I change the user name?

Since this computer belonged to someone else, it has a wrong name in
"Documents and Settings". There's ALL USERS, GUEST, DEFAULT USER, and
LINDA.

In CONTROL PANEL USER ACCOUNTS, the name is listed as "PC User". So,
where does "LINDA" come from?

It's not that big of deal. The computer works, which is the most
important thing, but I dont fit the name "Linda". (I dont even have
boobs) .

If this can be changed without a major hassle, (or making the computer
become unstable), I'll do it. Is it possible?
It would not let me just rename it inside "Documents and Settings". It
said something about being a system folder / can not rename.

It's XP -Pro SP3.

It appears that "PC USER" is the administrator, but since that is not
listed in the "Documents and Settings", then LINDA must be.... (Unless
that was for soemone else). Like I said in a prior message, this
computer was used in a business.

It sounds just like the profile has been renamed.

Windows will do that just fine. But the underlying file structure
(folders) can't (or Windows just doesn't) rename *them*.

If you don't have much "in there" - create a new Profile ("you"), make
it admin, login on that profile, then you can delete the old "PC User"
(Linda) profile. You can even delete it, but leave the 'files' behind
(the 'My Docs') - (it'll prompt you for that, when you go to delete the
Profile).

Where do you do all that? ... Control Panel, Users, user profiles in
there.

I knew a compture that was transpersonad. It took a lot of time and
money and required meeting with psychogists, hardware and software
techicians, and surgeons. And it was leaked to and then written up in
trade journals and was very embarrassing to the computer. So don't
rush into this.
