If you downloaded the ISO9660 file, and converted it to a bootable DVD,
the Windows 8 contents should be similar to the following list. These
are the contents you'd see, if viewing the DVD on another computer.

boot --- folder
efi --- folder
sources --- folder
support --- folder
autorun.inf
bootmgr
bootmgr.efi
setup.exe

If instead, you insert the DVD into another computer, and
all it lists is this:

Windows8-ReleasePreview-64bit-English.iso

then all you've done, is "dragged and dropped" the file
onto the DVD. That will not create a bootable DVD, and
will also not properly set up the files.

You need an application like Nero or Imgburn, to convert
the ISO9660 into a bootable DVD.

One possibility occurs to me.

Did you just burn the files to a DVD as a data DVD? That won't work.

The proper method is to burn the ISO file to a DVD as a DVD image.
Software such as CDBurnerXP and ImgBurn do that very easily. They are
free.

Something to do with processor features and the NX featu
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...4-c6c0cbe1cad1
- and many similar results from a Google searh.

Basically you're stuffed.

Did you verify the checksum on the file ?

http://forums.mydigitallife.info/thr...nload-!/page25

Nome file: it_windows_8_x86_dvd_915489.iso
Lingue: Italian
SHA1:B26780187E0ACC70CBEB09D420A7319D823A3E11

Now, what we don't know, is if that is the actual checksum of
the MSDN supplied ISO or not.

*******

As "Mechanic" points out, it's an NX problem.

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...8-c92d237b0edb

The NX feature, only seemed to be enforced by the Release Preview
or later.

If you boot the computer using an existing OS, then start the
setup from the Windows 8 DVD, it will report

"Your CPU is not compatible"

In which case, you enter the BIOS, in the processor setup section,
and check for "NX" or XD" setting and enable it.

Well, my suggestion was irrelevant; sorry.

mechanic found the answer - you can't do it because your CPU isn't
compatible.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XD_bit

"... Intel implemented a similar feature in x86 processors beginning
with the Pentium 4 processors based on later iterations of the Prescott core."

Are there Prescott processors for S478 ?

In the listing at the bottom of this page, it could be Prescott LGA775
processors that support NX.

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Pentiu...6PG3400E).html

In the Intel information page, it would be listed as Execute Disable
near the bottom of the page. There is no selection filter in the
filter on the main page, to select all processors with that capability.
I would have to check the processors one a time to figure it out.
I selected this processor, thinking it had the latest year of
introduction.

http://ark.intel.com/products/27469/...Hz-800-MHz-FSB

My guess right now, is that there isn't a S478 processor, to do the job.

My P4C800-E motherboard has the same problem. I was not
able to install Windows 8.
