maybe you can uncheck bypass proxy server for local

Hello,

I've setup Instant Messaging service on SBS 2000 server

on my network. When
I try to connect using the Windows Messenger v.5 client

on Windows XP I get
the following error:

"Windows Messenger"
"SOCKS 5 proxy authentication failed."

The issue here is that I've explicitly disabled the "I

use a proxy server"
setting on the connection tab of the IM client but still

get the error. I'm
at a loss, please help.

Thanks,
Jed

Darlie,

Thanks for the idea. I'm assuming you are referring to the Internet
Explorer settings to make these changes. I tried it, unfortunately it
didn't make a difference. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.
