Default usbport.sys stop screen

Greetings

WinXP home
Gigabyte 865PE MB
Pentium 2.8
1 gig DDR RAM

Invariably when I plug a usb device into front two usb ports on box
get above stop screen error. Doesn't happen every time - maybe 1 in 4
times. They are usb 2 ports but my devices are usb1.1.

I have other things plugged into 4 ports in back with no problem.

Is it possible that the drivers for this particular two ports are
unreliable? I am not sure how the motherboard is set up when you have
ports at the front but I imagine it is more like a mini hub or
something.

So should I just avoid them or try to update something?

Many thanks

Deb
