documents using office 2000, but windows XP won't let me

I have installed Office 97, Office XP, and Office 2003 under XP. So, I have
to believe that Office 2000 will also install under XP.

In general, you can only install things if you are logged in as a PC
administrator. Normal users can not do installations.

I have Office 2000 running on an XP machine with no problems. Try
Bob's suggestion.
