Can you create a shortcut for my favorites for the
desktop? On windows 98 2nd edition it had it in the
startup menu for quick access.

yes your favorites are here, make a shortcut to that folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Favorites

C is your drive yours may be d or something else...
AND user is the name of your user... the name you see on the top of the
start menu when you press the start button.

You can have Favorites in the Start Menu also.
Right click the Start button | Properties | Customize button |
Advanced tab | Check: Favorites Menu | OK | Apply | OK
