Default No administrative rights

On our computer there is no longer a user account with
administrative rights. There is only one limited user
account. Dell says to give up, delete everything from
the hard drive, and reinstall everything from scratch.
Any ideas on how to restore adminstrative rights when the
only logon is through a limited user account?

Hi,

what you can try is when you get to "Welcome Screen" click ALT+CTRL+DEL
twice. You should get a new window where you can enter your Username and
Password...

I hope this helps,

Mike

Greetings --

Simply log in using the built-in Administrator account (which
cannot be deleted) and modify the desired account. By design, the only
way to log into the Administrator account of WinXP Home is to reboot
into Safe Mode. For WinXP Pro, pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at the
Welcome Screen will produce the standard login dialog box.
