Default Multiple webpage requests

when I select a news article from my DSL homepage the request is made three
times. To return to the homepage I have to click BACK three times or scroll
under BACK to select the homepage entry.
This computer runs Windows XP Student and is connected via a Linksys router
but it had the same problem when hardlined. The other computers on the same
router and IP do not have this problem.
