Default Are these SP2 related problems?

Hello!

This is a strange story. So here it goes. My machine went nuts and as a last
resort I had to format. In the midst of the format, I accidentally broke my
WinXP Home SP1 disk. So I had to get a new one. This one is WinXP Home SP2.

Ever since the installation, I've had problems with the sound being garbled.
I have on-board sound and have tried the latest drivers with no success.
Also, I have 1 game on the machine that is played -- The Sims2. On the
previous OS (SP1), it played without flaw, on this OS (SP2), it is jerky and
sounds terrible.

Is there a fix or patch somewhere for these problems? Is it in the BIOS? Or
is it just in my head? Please advise if you can.

Thanks,

Dave

Sounds like you need updated drivers for your sound and video cards.
You need to identify the manufacturer's name and model number for each
of these and then get the latest Windows XP drivers for your model
from the manufacturer's web site.

And if either (or both) of these are integrated into your motherboard
rather than being on separate accessory cards then you would get the
driver updates from the motherboard manufacturer's web site.

Good luck
