Default one for the all the mvp's - how come all my windows are now resizable(esp. those that normally aren't)

how can i fix this:

http://www.rtdos.com/downloads/bad.bmp

so that it looks like this:

http://www.rtdos.com/downloads/good.bmp

it happened within the last few days. is there a registry key i need to
edit or a dll i need to re-register ? this is most annoying !!! no,
i've not installed any programs recently; checked for spyware and
viruses (obviously not a problem there).

Is it just that dialog box that is the problem, or are you just using it as an
example? IOW, are all your windows looking like that now? If the latter, check
your Display settings to see what Screen Resolution and Color depth you are using.

I've never seen Windows resize a dialog box by adding scroll bars. Usually
larger text is truncated in a same size box.

Are you sure you aren't using a program that is designed to enhance these?
I have one installed called 'Enhanced Dialogs' that will do this. Resizing
the box so that the scroll bars disappears makes them stay away on
subsequent openings of the same dialog box.

If using just XP software for the shell: Check DPI settings in Display
Options Settings Advanced: General. Default setting is 96 DPI. Also in
Display but on the Appearance page, select "normal" for font size here too.
And try re-applying your theme. Select a different one, apply. Then select
the one that you want. Do not use one of the high contrast themes without
using Accessibility options to turn off all features related to display.

If this is new to the past few days and you haven't made a number of changes
then try System Restore to roll back to a time when the system was working
correctly.

Unless you took the screen shots from different PC's, it appears some or all
could have happened:
Resolution change, Font change, Font DPI change (say from 96dpi to 128dpi to
force Large Fonts), or Theme change (using a different font).
