Computer crashes when asking for Remote Assistance
While trying to "Invite a friend" for "Remote Assistance" some system
programs crash and shutdown the computer. And, at every restart, it gives about a minute before it shutdowns automatically... It does it if we go ask for help from Windows "Help and Support Center" (Start Help and Support). It also does it if we are using the latest version of MSN Messenger and ask for "Remote Assistance": While chatting with someone: Actions Request Remote Assistance. Here are some of the message I was getting at startup after each startup: -Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. -SVhost.exe - Application Error: The instruction at "0x752f2ca6" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read". -This system is shutting down. Please save all work in progress and log off... Windows must restart because the DCom server process... I had to use system restore to get back to normal.. Now, I would really like to use this nice remote assistance, but I can't since it messes up windows. I would like to know what exactly is causing this. Any ideas? NeilSanner |

I could replicate this behavior on another computer. Bring me a
computer and I'll crash it in two minutes with this method!! :-) NeilSanner wrote: Hi, Anybody else that had problems using Remote Assistance? NeilSanner |

The solution: It works both via MSN Messenger and Windows Messenger: -Downloaded the latest version of termsrv.dll and replaced the old file. http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-.../download.html -Changed this registry setting to : 0 (it was set to 1) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\DontDisplayLastUserName Cheers!
