Default 7.5 Connection Related Probs & Slows PC

Downloaded and installed 7.5, rebooted PC (as per instructions). Went to
dial out (BT ADSL Zoom modem, through USB), took forever to open port, port
opened but didn't connect, at least after 10 mins!!. Tried running other
apps. (anything) took an age.

Rebooted same prob.

Rebooted but tried running apps before dialling out no probs.

Tried to dial out, PC back to crawl.

Rebooted, tried apps before dial-out, no probs. Tried dial-out , as above

Uninstalled 7.5, rebooted, dialled out no probs.

Re-installed 7.5 this time was not asked to reboot, dialled out fine, other
apps fine.

Re-boot, apps fine, dial-out fails, other apps run at a crawl.

Uninstall, reboot dial-out ok other apps ok.

Well looks to me like 7.5 is the culprit??

Q's

Is this a known problem with 7.5 are there any fixes/patches/

Is 7.0 still available - missing messenger (looked on the messenger site
only seems to offer 7.5)

Any ideas

TIA

Trevor
