Default Corrupted Security Database in XP, can I restore to defaults?

holy crap i fixed it. nevermind then.

"Phil" wrote:

In gpedit.msc I keep getting the message:

"The Group Policy security settings that apply to this machine could not be
determined.
The error returned when trying to retreive these settings from the local
security policy database (%windir%\security\database\secedit.sdb) was: The
parameter is incorrect.

All local security settings will be displayed, but no indication will be
given as to whether or not a given security setting is defined by Group
Policy. Any local security setting modified through this User Interface may
subsequently be overridden by domain-level policies."

I get this message when i start gpedit.msc and whenever i click on anything
in there. The problem is that secedit.sdb was deleted from my
'%windir%\security\databases' folder. I tried running mmc and readding the
'security configuration and analysis' snapin, but when I choose a template to
import (like 'setup security.inf') i get another error:

"Access is denied. Import Failed."

I've tried everything to restore the securtiy to the out-of-the-box
defaults. Can anybody help?
