Default Error Message: Insufficient System Resources...

I get the following error:

Insufficient system resources exist to compolete the requested service

This comes up after I have been away from the computer and come back and try
to open any program. I have to reboot in order to user any application.

I am using Windows XP. When I searched for this error on microsoft.com, I
saw a 'fix' for Windows NT.

I have the latest Service Pack installed.

Any suggestions?
