Greetings Bob,

Well per conversation window (aka per contact), simply open up a conversation window, choose
the Backgrounds button and choose one.

If you mean in the contact list, you can add a background by putting saving a GIF image as
lvback.gif in the Messenger folder (\Program Files\MSN Messenger).

Thank you Jonathan for your reply.
I want to add a background I made in my messenger folder. Do they all have
to have the gif extension or can I save them in JPG too?
Thanks in advance.
Bob
