Default Microsoft SideWinder Precision Pro

I have just obtained a Microsoft SideWinder Precision Pro joystick. The
computer is not detecting it, and I cannot find drivers for it. It uses a
game port, and as far as i know, it works.
Part No: X03-57540
Product I.D. : 85791-579-5868503-00000

If anyone can direct me to drivers or ways to install it, it will be much
appreciated.

I did this a couple of weeks ago.

Game port needs to be enabled in the BIOS (if you are using the onboard
port).

You need to be able to "see" the game port in Device Manager. Once you can
then

Plug the joystick into the PC. Go to control panel in XPSP2 click on game
controllers. click on add, click on microsoft sidewinder (autodetect).
It just worked straight off. There are no drivers to load for the joystick,
XP knows about the Sidewinder by default.

FWIW: I also have that joystick.
From what I remember and I too use Xp, the joystick came with drivers.
I think version 3.0 was the latest.
Xp detected the joystick right away after installing the drivers.
They are downloadable from the microsoft precision pro website.
just a thought!!
