Default Windows Messenger tab feature gone?

I noticed that the tab pane in Windows Messenger on the left side is gone.
There also is no "Show Tabs" option in the Tools menu anymore. Is this a
server side issue, or was this intentional?

Greetings,

The only tab I have is Alerts but it's still there on all my accounts.

Yeah, the tab is back now. And I noticed, the Alerts tab actually works!
Well, to an extent. It wants me to sign up for the Alerts service, even
though I already am. :S I still receive alerts in Messenger via the toasts,
though.

Progress at least, I think.
