Default Recieve Faxes in Windows Fax Console after having answered the phone.

Hello,

I have only one line in my house and i want to use it to voice and fax. Is
it possible to answer the phone see that it's a fax and force the computer
to answer it?

With a physical fax machine its possible. Can I recreate the same situation
with Windows Fax Console?

Thanks

Yes, set Fax to Manual Answer. When a call comes in and you determine that
its a Fax and not a voice call, open the Fax Console and go to 'File|Receive
a Fax Now'.

"An error has occurred while receiving the fax"
I get this message when I think I should be receiving a fax or verification.
What is the problem? The message is of no help at all--I get no fax.
Should the machine detect the fax on the phone line, or do I have to know it
is coming in.

When a Fax machine calls, it announces its presence by sending a series of
tones (called CNG tones); when the receiving modem hears these tones, it
responds with Fax connection handshaking tones. In theory, if you answer
the phone and hear CNG tones, you should be able to manually start the Fax
receive process and receive the Fax. This process, using manual answer,
depends on you determining whether a call is from a Fax machine or not. As
a test, you can set the service to auto-answer, arrange for someone to send
you a Fax, and see if it works or produces an error.
