Try "Normal Start" and see what happens. -- Joe =o) |

well, if you can't boot into the recovery console & you can't boot into the o.s., then your options are limited. basically, what we are trying to accomplish is the fix the boot.ini file that you added the safemode switch to. however, setting the switch should not have caused you any problems. therefore, the were problems are already existing on the pc. and if you were able to log into the disk successfully, the commands and other methods available via recovery console would have fixed you right up. one method would be to access the boot.ini file and remove the safemode switch: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330184 however, the problem again with the above is that you have no admin password to log into the disk. another thing you might try is the suggestion provided by the other responder. you may be able to stop the rebooting by pressing the f8 key continuously and hope you can get the boot menu. in the unlikely event that you can't break the cycle, then a repair install with the windows cd might be the quickest and simplest recourse: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...ps/doug92.mspx another option might be is to install that drive onto another pc as a slave and see if you have access to the file system via another pc. another tool i discovered but have not tested is this one: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk however, it might be best to simply get down to business and use what you have rather than to further the experimenting. i suggest to do a repair install. then afterwards, we can help you develop a plan to protect you from issues like this again..... - db "Elmo" wrote in message ...
