can't access encrypted files
I'm running Windows XP SP2. I encrypted a couple of folders and checked the
files. I could read/write just fine after encryption. I then exported my personal certificates using MMC and the Certificates snap-in per Windows Help and Support. Then I copied the folder to another drive to test the encryption. I could not access the copied folder using a different user login. All good so far. So then I logged back in as myself and went to access the original encrypted folder and now I'm getting an access denied message! So what gives? Anyone? Thanks Alex |

Solved the problem! I imported the saved certificate back into my original
user and it now works fine, whew! Apparently certificates cannot be shared by more than one user on a given machine. "Alex B." wrote: I'm running Windows XP SP2. If a crook stole a notebook with its data being encrypted and had the encryption certificate then the thief could then access the encrypted data. -- Dave http://www.claymania.com/removal-trojan-adware.html Multi-AV - http://www.pctipp.ch/downloads/dl/35905.asp |

Thanks Alex Try using Truecrypt instead truecrypt.org. No certificates just strong password for virtual volume that can be copied, emailed and otherwise moved around as needed. |
