Default Print queue showing incorrect number of pages with HP k5400

I'm running Windows XP home sp2 - fully updated. Hp Officejet k5400 -
installed with basic driver.
The printe queue shows an incorrect page count on all documents printed -
it's actual page count times 3. eg: print 10 copies of 1 page, the queue
shows 30/1pages. I can't find documentation anywhere of this problem. The
printer handles small page counts 3easily (even with the tripling) but speed
significantly slows after the first 100 pages (which it says is 300/1).

To be clear, these are multiple copies of 1 single page in a multiple page
document. I have been printing these same documents for over a year at this
same volume without incident. This is a new computer- Same operating system
etc.. just bigger specs.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
