Please Help With Folder Problem
I have a sub-folder in My Pictures, with 500 .jpg files. It has suddenly
become very slow opening, and when I try "refresh" it hangs and I get a pop-up telling me that it is "not responding." I've done a lot of "renaming" and I wonder if that has caused a difficulty. I tried creating a new folder and moving all of the files to it, but the problem persists. All other sub-folders open and load instantly. Please suggest a cause and a solution for this situation. I will be very grateful. |

Please Help With Folder Problem
Put 25% of the files in one subfolder, and 25% in another subfolder and so
on ... Does the problem go away after you have reduced the number of files in each sub folder? JS "JD" wrote in message ... I have a sub-folder in My Pictures, with 500 .jpg files. Please Help With Folder Problem
Reducing the number of pics per folder helped. Folders open less slowly.
What did make a huge difference was changing the view arrangement from Date Picture Taken to the default Name. Is it to be expected that Windows Explorer will be slower when it has to "read" the metadata to find the date each picture was taken? I've not noticed this slowdown before and I usually use the Date Picture Taken view. Thanks much for your suggestion. It did help. "JS" @ wrote in message ...
