Default DFS share not reachable

Hi everybody,
I have a little problem.
Always when a shared object like a printer or a file-share is not reachable,
cause the network is temporary unreachable, my xp client wait for timeouts,
when I start the windows explorer or try to print.
The problem is, that the tcp stack get no answers (no nack or ack), cause
the router doesn’t answer.

So my question:
Is it possible to manipulate the timeouts for the windows xp (explorer).

Thanks for help…
