Can you find files when thier encrypted?

If you encrypt an entire folder, will someone with another account be able to
search for files in that folder?

That depends on the method used for encryption and exactly what kind of
'search' you want to prevent.

For example, if you encrypt the contents of a file, someone else can
find the file, but no one can read it.

In Windows XP, user accounts are used to restrict access to files and
folders. If you protect your account with a strong password and don't
allow anyone else to have an account with Administrator permissions, no
other user can open anything you have in My Documents, even without
encryption.

If you're sharing your user account with someone you can't trust,
encryption is the least of your worries.

If you are using EFS yes but they won't be able to view their contents or open them.

I have admin privliges and am in the admin group. I do share this account
with other people. My idea was to use the hidden administrator account and
have a folder with all my stuff i want protected but don't use much to be
hidden and encrypted.

So, if someone on my account (not the hidden admin) does a search and
happens to use an exact file name of a file in that hidden folder, will it
show up?

opps i'm using xp pro and am checking the encrypt option in the folder
properties.

If you set the search function to find hidden files, yes.
