Default best Free Spyware Detector?

I've had AdWare and SpySweeper, but am wondering if there is a more
effective anti-spyware program available, preferably not one that
requires an annual subscription renewal.

One caveat to watch for with MalwareBytes: It sometimes detects
setup.exe programs as rogues. A little experimenting and I found that
the way they find rogues is by finding a program where it might not be
expected: as in system32 or other places like that. In my case they
were both legitimate. I admit they don't belong there, but that's where
the install put them. So beware rogue program finds.

Otherwise I saw no problems with it.

Why do you refuse to say the same about registry cleaners? They're far
worse.
