Default Windows XP Password

I just bought a pc from a company that has gone out of business. I has
Windows XP Pro OS. Is there a way to use this pc without knowing the
Adninistrator's password or do I have to buy another OS? Any help would be
appreciated.

That all depends on the license. Does this PC have its own license or
did the company put a non-transferrable volume license on it? With your
purchase, did you receive an installation CD with it?

Regarding the password, this page should help:

DON-

You would be able to still operate the computer without knowing that
administrator account's password as long as any other user accounts didn't
have a password attached to them that you didn't know. I would however highly
suggest you do a few things he

First, if you want to access the administrator account, download Hiren's
Boot CD (www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd). The CD includes a program to unlock
any account under Windows and reset the password. You would then be able to
access the administrator account.

Second, and probably most important, you need to go and buy yourself a copy
of Windows, and repartition/reformat the drive. I would NEVER use a computer
from someone else without a clean copy of Windows installed on it. You NEVER
know what garbage could be installed on there as far as viruses, malware,
spyware, ect... Also, I am sure that the company probably had a lot of
garbage running in the background that you have no need for. So, get yourself
a copy of Windows and do a clean install. Hope that helps!

This is a very frequently asked question and if you type the four words
Windows XP Password
into a Google search box then you get about 38 Million hits. On the
very first page are some very relevant ones.

I would suggest you take the OEM install media they should have provided
with the PC an just reload the operating system.

Thanks for the info. The pc is from Sound Advice in Florida and was just
used as a client to send a video stream throughout the store to demo the TVs.
I will look into the software to see if I can get into it. Thanks again

Cool. Thanks for the info. I will try that first. Zack came up with so

This is easier. I just recommend the boot CD because it has the password
cracker on it as well as a hundred other GREAT tools. Memory tools,
partitioning tools, ect...

Bob

Rules go out of the window when a company goes out of business.
