Default ALT F11 to reset back to original condition is not working.

I've had a few problems with viruses and spyware and all I want to do is
return my PC back to the state it was when I removed it from its box, I
should be able to do this using ALT F11 while the PC is starting up to
restore from the partition but when I try this, I just get a beeping noise.

Could this have somehow been disabled and if so, how do I enable it again?

Your computer's recovery procedure is specific to your make and model of
computer. To restore your computer to the way it was when it arrived at
your door, contact the computer manufacturer.

Yes, I know, mine is a Dell and to recover back to the way it was when it
arrived at my door you use ALT F11 while it's starting up.

This has worked in the past but now it just gives me a beeping noise.

Could it somehow have been disabled? and if so, how do I enable it again?

I'd recommend going to the Dell website and looking thru the FAQs there
and/or ask them for help. It could be anything from the recovery
partition having been corrupted or formatted over to plain old system
corruption preventing it from starting.
You could also find what the beeps mean when you try to use it. There
might be a pattern to them that means something; I don't know.
I'd search the BIOS settings carefully for anything that might
disable it, too. I know the Dell on the other desk here doesn't have
such a setting, but it's old compared to what you likely have.
Other than checking the BIOS I'd go to the Dell site and check into
the Support area. I used them a few months ago for a customer's machine
and they were pretty responsive.

HTH,

Twayne`

Chances are that the recovery partition has been damaged. If you
didn't burn recovery media when you got the computer, you will need to
contact Dell and see if they will send you discs. The charge is
minimal.
