What download for minimum print drivers for HP CM1213NFI MFP printer?
I need to d/l the minimum software for the HP CM1312NFI MFP printer. Here is HP's download page: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...5&swEnvOID=228 Which do I choose? All I want right now is the basic print capability, not the entire kit. I want to be able to print over ethernet and print over USB. The terminology in the driver section is ambiguous. To me, "Network Express Install" and "USB Express Install" sound like installation media (or over the net) but maybe they mean what flavor of printer-connectivity the software is specific to. I've seen a Macintosh computer "find" an HP MFP printer on an Ethernet and print to it without any added drivers. I assume it was LPR/LPRd protocol which I use whenever I can. (This was for a HP model that is now 3 years old.) Is there any chance an XP or Vista WIndows machine can do that? -- Al Dykes News is something someone wants to suppress, everything else is advertising. - Lord Northcliffe, publisher of the Daily Mail |

While there may be drivers built into whatever OS you choose to use, those drivers were likely put there with permission (possibly they paid for the privilege or vice-versa) from the equipment manufacturer (or a generic driver is being used and might fail in some circumstances.) If they chose not to include it (or it wasn't out in time) in the OS - then it wouldn't work 'out-of-the-box'. -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html |

That's exactly what it means, when setting it up you either connect a network cable to it or a USB cable. Set it up with the USB connection and it should work fine, if you need to print from other networked PCs, share the printer with the PCs on your network that you wish to allow printing from. -- Brian A.
