I'm having what looks like the same problem. Wizard looks for camera.. but
names it USB2 Camera! Downloaded the 2.07 but all that does is give me
Windows live call!

All my USB ports are 2.0 so I'm at a loss. I have other devices connected
but they are working fine!

Any help would be more than welcome

Regards
GW

To do a basic hardware check, use this Microsoft utility. This site is an
archive - click on one of the link dates shown, and the download
should commence. (Microsoft no longer offers this for download,
so we're left with archived copies.)

http://web.archive.org/*/http://down...VCView.x86.exe

The UVCView window, looks similar to this. This displays information
about directly connected USB devices.

The product identification, should be something like this.

Microsoft Corp LifeCam VX-6000.

idVendor: 0x045e
idProduct: 0x00f4

If it does that much, then it isn't broken. It could then be
a software problem.

I think I attempted to help someone with this before, and
that person managed to "brick" their camera. I'm not even
going to suggest anything more, about trying to "fix" this,
because it appears I'm a jinx :-)

But at least that utility, should give you some idea whether the
computer can talk to the camera.

For another source of inspiration, look at the tail end of
the C:\Windows\setupapi.log file using Notepad. I think I
looked in there, when I had problems with my camera.
