Default Getting "old" look back

I am on a new computer, having my old one with XP Pro on
it.

My new one has some new XP features that I want to get
rid of. I noticed on my old XP Pro system, that if you
click start, it says "Shut Down". On the new system, it
says "Turn Off Computer". Also when I select this, it
has 3 icons saying Stand By, Turn Off, and Restart. On
my old XP Pr computer, it had the sort of list thing that
ME has.

Both old and new computers are running on XP Professional
Os', and both have the XP Blue theme with the classic
start menu bar.

If anyone knows how to change it to the older setting
(the list and the box on startup instead of the big blue
status screen), it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot,

Bill Michelson

Bill don't know about the Shut down short list but can help with the others.
Right click the start BAR unlock if, then right click again and select properties. There you will
find the setting to change the start menu to the classic type.
Right click the desktop in a open area and select properties, go to the "Appearance" tab and select
"Windows Classic style" on the first drop down box, Then on the second drop down box select "Windows
standard".
Also you might have to go to the desktop tab and select "Customize Desktop", there you will find a
option to clean up the desktop I don't like or need this option, I can clean my own desktop. You can
add thing to the desktop from this dialog box also.
If you have more questions just post back to this thread.

Hello Bill,

I suggest you disable the Welcome screen. To do so,

- In control panel, click | User Accounts |
- click "Change the way users log on or off"
- [ ] "Use the Welcome screen"
- [Apply Options]

then report back with your findings in this thread of this
newsgroup.

Jan

Hello Bill,

You are welcome! Thank you for your feedback.

And, in my reply to you relating to "Screen Saver"
I mistakenly addressed you as "Ford", (the name of the
other reply poster). My apologies!
