Default USB Device Not Recognized

Trying to install a Lexmark X63 All-in-one printer, and
computer (Dell) will not recognize it after connecting to
a USB port. Message reads USB Device Not Recognized.
Tried Lexmark fix concerning standby and hybernation
disabling. Didn't work. Microsoft says it's a problem
with the manufacturer, Dell. Dell says it's a software
problem with Windows XP Home Edition. HELP! and many
thanks.

Did you install the Lexmark software BEFORE connecting the All in One unit
to the PC?

If not, uninstall everything you installed and start again.
