Default printer no go on 3.95

I just purchased a new computer ( hp2600+ ) w/windows xp
installed at the store ( best buy ). When I tried to
install my old printer ( brother mfc 7160c )I was
informed that it won't work w/windowsnt3.95 but it will
work w/windowsnt4.0. shouldn't the newest version have
been installed? Do I need to install 4.0 myself? Can I
download it? HELP! Thanks, Joe.

If you have XP, why are you mentioning NT 3.95 and NT4?
In any event, look he http://www.brother.com/E-ftp/windowsxp/us.html
(If you really have NT, see

No you don't need to install Windows NT 4.0! BTW think of XP as NT 5.0!

Go to the Brother website at
http://www.brother.com/E-ftp/info/mfc/mfc7160c.html
and download and install the new drivers as per their instructions.

Everything you need is already built into XP:

When WXP (NT5) does not pick up an older printer and
there are no XP compatable drivers on the Brothers site.
you just may be SOL. This recently happend with my
mothers machine which I upgraded considerably. I just
went and bought her a new Canon USB printer for $40.
