problem with printers

I just purchased a new Hp Photosmart 7150 and I cannot
get it to print anything. It installs successfully, it
is recognized by the system properly and the system seems
to think it is working just fine. But nothing happens--
the document appears in the queue but then is
automatically deleted. Prior to purchasing this printer,
I recall beginning to have problems with the printer I
was using over the LAN--I figured it was a networking
issue. The same glitch occurs with this new printer as
began to occur with the other: when I try to open the
printer preferences, the window appears for just a
fraction of a second and then disappears again. I'm
figuring this has something to do with my problem, as I
have followed all available troubleshooting procedures
for the printer. I'm wondering what might be going on
from my end? Any suggestions?

Before you installed it locally, did you uninstall it over the LAN?

Is the default printer set to be the local one or are you still trying to
print over the LAN (to a print that might not be there anymore!)

Try one more total uninstall and reinstall using:
