Does Windows Messenger Log Messages
I know that MSN Messenger 6.0 apparently logs chat but
what I want to know is whether Windows Messenger 4.7 does the same? I can't see any internal options to tell it to log chat. What happens to the chat when you close a Windows Messenger conversation? Is it stored on the server until the conversation is closed down and then deleted? Or is it stored on the local PC? |

Does Windows Messenger Log Messages
Greetings Nikki,
No, Windows Messenger 4.7 does not log conversations. When you are having a conversation the conversation is actually active within the computers RAM, when you close the conversation window, turn the computer off (anything within RAM would be lost), or otherwise, the conversation is gone -- it is not stored on the Messenger servers, nor written to your own hard disk (yes, from a technical standpoint, 'pieces' of the conversation might be retrieved using the swap file, but I won't get into that further). However, you can use a third-party utility like Messenger Plus to automatically log your Windows Messenger conversations, see http://www.msgplus.net. ____________________________________________ Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Messenger/MSN Messenger Associate Expert http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/ Messenger Resources - http://messenger.jonathankay.com "Nikki" wrote in message ...
