Default Can't run XP Network Setup on 98SE machine

I know the feeling.
I had the same experience.
I just waited while the Setup program executed on the 98
machine. Eventually it worked.
How are you interconnecting the machines USB or LAN
(Ethernet Adapters)? If the latter, cross-over cable must
be used.
One of the key steps I had to take was to stop the
firewall on the connection between the two machines.
I also found that the internet must be connected to the
XP machine while establishing the connection between the
two machines.
in my case I do not use passwords on the XP.

Created a setup disk to use on a 98SE laptop. Ran it and
rebooted, then ran the wizard but it doesn't finish
configuring the computer for networking. Get the "Please
wait..." and it is in an endless process. I have
ctrl+alt+del.
Any suggestions, I really like to enable file and

printer
sharing between an XP and 98SE machines.
