FAX printer does NOT finish
I have looked through all of the postings and have not found a problem
exactly like mine. When I print a scan to the FAX printer the progress bar completly fills up right away and then does nothing after that. I have tried stopping the spool, cleaned the spool, added and removed the fax components, etc and nothing seems to work. An HP techncian in a chat that about all that was left to do was a limited recovery (i.e. without formatting the C: drive) but I shudder at all of the work to get every thing reinstalled. Is there a better way? I can receive Faxes but not send now. This has not been a problem in the past. -- Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. FAX printer does NOT finish
You'll have to provide at least some information here. What file type are
you trying to print and with what software? This is not a fax issue at all if you haven't even rendered the file. Fax software does not do any rendering. The native application for the file type does. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Sponge Bob" wrote in message ... FAX printer does NOT finish
Well Thanks Russ for the reply. I have a scanned document or picture and I
open it and print selecting the FAX printer. The FAX printer shows the completion bar as complete but it never finishes the print job and so there is nothing to send. The only way I can exit the print cycle is to cancel the print. I guess that i assumed that the FAX printer prepared the document or picture for faxing. I hope you can set me straight. -- Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is to not stop questioning. I'm sorry I didn't tell you what software I was using. It is the Photo
printing wizard that came with my HP computer. -- Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is to not stop questioning. FAX printer does NOT finish
Now you know where your problem lies, and we can't solve it. That software
is failing to render your image into a standard format that the Fax transport can use. If HP cannot address this problem, please tell us so we can avoid using their product. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Sponge Bob" wrote in message ... FAX printer does NOT finish
Well the software works! But as a long time computer user and having changed
over to XP Pro within the year, I can say that what I see when using FAX Wizard and Photo Print Wizard is not intuitive. I have been my own worst enemy in tht I started sending faxes the same way as in win98 and I was successful after many tries. Had I read the documentation I still might have had problems maybe just not as severe as this time. Basically the story is that the Photo Print Wizard doesn't complete until you finish with the FAX wizard and I wasn't able to see anything but a cover letter when I previewed the FAX and the print wiz was still on the screen not finished. This really confused me! Now i know that I must complete the SendFAX wiz and it will finish the print. However I have never been able to view the FAX as a two page FAX. If I study hard I may be able to find a way. I work around this by converting the outbox to a PDF file and ten I can see all pages. Your help put me on the right track and I thank you for that. I hope my experience will help others see that not all software is intuitive and need better instructions to produce the desired results. thanks -- Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. Assuming that you're using the default viewer (Windows Picture and Fax Viewer) you may well be clicking on the wrong button (many do). Do NOT use the blue buttons at the left that look like | and |. Use the buttons in the middle, on either side of the page number. Alternatively, click on the downward pointing arrow immediately to the right of the page number and you can select which page you want to jump to. -- Lem -- MS-MVP To the moon and back with 2K words of RAM and 36K words of ROM. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_Guidance_Computer http://history.nasa.gov/afj/compessay.htm |
