What attributes do I need to use an external HD on a computer with XP
Pro and one with the MediaCenter edition ??

Nothing, other than the correct connections on your various PC's in order to
plug it in

Attributes? I don't know what you mean by "attributes." Assuming that
you're talking about an external USB drive, just plug it in, whether
XP Professional or MCE.
