NO Sound
Brand new PC and everything has been working great. Went to bed last
night (sound was working) Woke up this morning and no system sounds, no music, no nothing. Speakers are new but i tried switching those still nothing. Drivers are all up to date. I dont think its a hardware issue, since the PC is only a month old. Anyone have any ideas? Please help before I go out and drop cash on another sound card. -- Posted at author's request, using moderated http://www.WinForumz.com interface Thread archive: http://www.WinForumz.com/windows/Sou...ict661372.html |

NO Sound
If you suspect it's a software issue, you could try doing a System Restore
back to the night before when it was working and see if that works. If that doesn't resolve it, it does sound like it's a hardware issue. (I'm assuming you've checked all your connections) garyb1980 wrote: Brand new PC and everything has been working great. Check Device Manager to be sure that your sound card is not having any problems also look for any other yellow or red marks (red X or yellow !) -- Rick Fargo, ND N 46°53'251" W 096°48'279" Remember the USS Liberty http://www.ussliberty.org/ |

Hi garyb1980,
Go into the Control Panel. Click on Sounds. Click on Audio and Voice and make sure the correct Drivers are listed for each, before considering it to be a Hardware problem. Sometimes, when doing a Hard Shutdown, settings are changed, randomly. -- thecreator "garyb1980" wrote in message news:2537638_a117117637ea1d040e8b023ae4027b57@winf orumz.com... NO Sound
Your problem is fairly common and since your computer is new, I doubt the
sound card could be damaged. One of the following should work: Go to the Control Panel, Sound & Audio Devices Audio tab Sound Reproduction check the volume and advanced volume controls. If the sounds device description bar were blank or grayed out, it would indicate the sound card driver is uninstalled (the system uninstalls it sometimes, if your sound card turns out to be uninstalled, the event viewer might point to the cause). Next, in the Control Panel Management Tools Computer Management Device Management Sound, Video & Game Devices, right click on the speaker icon and select uninstall, next restart the computer (it may not have a yellow sign, but still may need to be reset). I should point out that I've had this problem several times a while back and this part was the solution even though the sound card was not uninstalled or showed any yellow or red sign. If still not working, the sound card driver could be corrupted. Go to the manufacturer's website and look for a "downloads" link to search for the driver and update it.
