USB Microphone not working in XP

I just recently bought a Plantronics USB headset. I have two computers
running XP and it works fine on one of them so I know it's not a bad
mic. However, on the other I get sound through the headset but the mic
will not pick up any sound even though it says it is working properly.
I have checked all the settings I can think of (not muted on inline
controls, volume is turned up in windows, proper device is selected in
voice and audio settings, ...) but it will not work. It did work one
time for about 2 minutes immediately after I rebooted but then it
stopped working again. My concern is that there is some software that
may be preventing it from working (firewall, AV software, etc) but I
can't be sure. Has anyone ever ran into this before? Any help would
be appreciated.
